Honolulu Whale Watching

We went on a three hour excursion out of Honolulu Harbor on a large catamaran on Qceanic Cruises. The cruise served lunch while the boat proceeded to its whale watching station. The food was surprisingly good. Here is Mark with Diamond Head as the background.

Diamond Head

The flight path from the airport is right over the harbor. It provided some entertainment.

Air Traffic

There was a fair amount of boat traffic as well.

We spotted whales just off the Waikiki Aquarium.

Waikiki Aquarium

We did see whales but it was a pod of juveniles just passing by. The boat just shadowed the juveniles which would surface every twenty minutes or so for a breath. In terms of whale watching it was semi anticlimactic. But Meg loves being out on the water and it was both enjoyable and inexpensive.

All in all, it was a very pleasant way to spend an afternoon.
