In the valley by the river, Elsa there was once a paper mill center. It transitioned to a glass producer and in relatively modern times began producing crystal. Now it produces about 15% of the world’s crystal. We got to spend a morning watching them make a cruet. Fish, swan and other crystal objects. This factory does not produce for the open market; it only produces direct orders. It was quite fun watching the artisans.
The making of an olive oil cruet can be found at this link: http://mmoeller.net/2015blog/cruet.htm.
It was quite nice to watch the artisans work their magic. We went from the crystal factory to a vineyard. It was a nice segue from watching them make crystal to using them.
